ABSTRACT

Objective To study the clinical characteristics and the related factors of elderly arrhythmia. Methods 658 elderly patients with cardiac arrhythmia who were confirmed by the conventional ECG or Holter were chosen.Their arrhythmia type and related factors were analyzed. Results Among 658 cases of elderly patients, atrial fibrillation accounted for the highest rate(19.0%,241/1 266),followed by ventricular contraction of 17.0% (215/ 1 266).The detection rate of sinus arrhythmia, ventricular arrhythmia was significantly different between ≥ 80 age group and < 80 years old group of elderly patients (P < 0.05).The 658 elderly patients had a total of 976 kinds of underlying disease, every elderly patient had one or more than one underlying disease. The top five underlying diseases were hypertension 18.6% (182/976),coronary heart disease 16.9% (165/976),chronic obstructive pulmonary disease 15.1% (147/976),diabetes 14.3% (140/976),malignant tumors 11.1% (108/976),other underlying disease 24.0% (234/976).In ≥ 80-years-old group,50.8% (123/242) patients complicated with a variety of underlying diseases, which was significantly higher than that of < 80-years-old group 24.5% (102/416) (P < 0.05).Conchluion Elderly patients due to the presence of different levels of underlying diseases and function degradation, prone to a variety of different types of arrhythmias, which should attract enough attention in clinical diagnosis and treatment, early detection and early intervention,in order to improve the quality of life of elderly patients.

ABSTRACT

Objective To assess the relationship between fractional esterification rate of high density lipoprotein cholesterol (FERHDL) and coronary artery disease .Methods The patients were underwent coronary angiography in this hospital in the last three years were collected ,according to the results of coronary angiography ,286 patients were divided into CHD group(n=196) and non-CHD group(control group ,n=90) .And according to the number of pathological coronary artery ,the patients with coronary heart disease were divided into single-vessel subgroup(n=73) ,double vessel lesion subgroup(n=72) ,three branch lesions subgroup (n=51) .The relationship between FERHDL and coronary artery disease were analyzed .Results The FERHDL of CHD group was significantly higher than that in the control group ,the difference was statistically significant (P<0 .05) .It was a tendency that the FERHDL increased with coronary lesions increasing (P<0 .05) .The FERHDL was significant independent correlated with the low density lipoprotein cholesterol b-C(LDLb-C) ,triglycerides(TG) ,high density lipoprotein cholesterol 2-C(HDL2-C) ,high density lipoprotein cholesterol C(HDL-C) .FERHDL was positively correlated with LDLb-C(r=8 .473 ,P=0 .000) ,TG(r=0 .714 ,P=0 .002) and negatively correlated with HDL2-C(r= -0 .692 ,P=0 .024)、HDL-C(r= -0 .829 ,P=0 .008) .Conclusion The value of FERHDL was significantly increased in CHD patients and correlated with the aggravation severity of the CHD .The change of FERHDL was significant correlated with particle size of HDL and LDL particle size .

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To determine whether the level of serum cardiac troponin T (cTnT) was increased in patients with congestive heart failure (CHF).</p><p><b>METHODS</b>This study consisted of 265 patients with CHF and 75 healthy people. Serum cTnT was measured by electrochemiluminescence immunoassay using an Elecsys 1010 automatic analyzer.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>cTnT concentration was 0.181 +/- 0.536 ng/mL in CHF patients and 0.003 +/- 0.001 ng/mL in controls (P < 0.001). Patients were categorized according to the levels of heart function and left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF). In the first group consisting of 105 patients with LVEF </= 35%, cTnT was 0.311 +/- 0.221 ng/mL. In the second group of 106 patients with LVEF > 35%, cTnT was 0.07 +/- 0.0 5 ng/mL (P < 0.01). In patients with NYHA class I, II, III and IV, cTnT values were 0.062 +/- 0.022 ng/mL, 0.113 +/- 0.121 mg/mL, 0.191 +/- 0.231 mg/ml and 0.384 +/- 0.211 mg/mL, respectively (class I vs class II P > 0.05, class II vs class III P < 0.01, class III vs class IV P < 0.01). A negative correlation was observed between serum cTnT concentration and LVEF in 265 patients with CHF (r = -0.493, P < 0.001).</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>This study shows that the level of serum cTnT is increased in patients with CHF and that the increased level indicates the severity of CHF.</p>
